Services for Young People in Rural Areas

Young people in rural areas don't get the same level of support as most services are in urban areas. If young people want to access services they need to travel to urban areas. We need to engage with young people in their areas on their behalf. Working with them in their own communities so that they engage with their own communities.

Affordable indigenous commercial units like 'Donegal Village'. Older generations; could we see a return of reLearning-old-trades before they're lost forever? Mixed-income, multi-generational community-led housing is a norm in many countries. Until more learn Cohousing is not CoLiving, we'll never catch up with other UK/EU towns/cities. or does Sligo continue w 'flats' where nobody needs know their neighbour, or community. Sligo's Courthouse Block ..still ignored, Dereliction has compounded vacancy. #NormalPeople want to live in warmer communities. Down-sizers deserve better options than retirement or nursing village. We can build better stuff in better places!

I propose the phasing out of harmful toxic chemicals used by County Councils in grounds keeping (parks, flowers, green areas etc). Harmful chemicals include pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and artifical fertilisers etc. Now is the time to take action. We are in an unprecedented time of environmental and human degradation. The health of both systems is intrinsically linked and if we act now we can change our current path.

Open up the Old Coach Rd from Beltitchburne to Drogheda and extend to Termonfeckin to allow safe walking and cycling as a viable means of transport link. This can keep walkers and cyclists away from the main road and also be suitable for tourism promotion.

We have a homeless crisis in Ireland yet towns in Ireland have houses which are unoccupied as well as shops with living quarters upstairs and no one in them. What do we need to do to encourage people to live in towns, such as families or older people in supported living accommodation? Would energy saving and noise reducing initiatives have an impact ? What would entice you to live in a town centre? Renovating houses would improve the dereliction in a lot of towns and make them nicer places to live in & visit.

People of all ages have a renewed appreciation of the importance of woodlands to our health and well-being. We have a great opportunity to bring more woodland into our towns, making them healthier, more attractive places to live, work and visit, while also helping to improve biodiversity.

Plans of action for integration into the community. Long term goals in each county to achieve inclusion of migrants arriving and living in their county. Taking action leading to education of both Irish and migrants living together. Reducing discrimination of a minority group. It would be great to develop a Multicultural Centre as a means to provide services to incoming migrants and for events related to integration. A fabulous way for Irish and migrants to come together.

Our county is mainly rural and like all rural areas, we need to maintain and increase the levels of people living in our rural areas. If populations decline, a spiral of decline can commense - less people living in the area can lead to a decrease in public services, which in turn leads to less people being willing and interested in living in the area. Many young people leave reural areas for further education and to explore the world. But how can we balance this and ensure our rural communities continue to grow and become sustainable. Attracting people to choose to live and work in our communities is been seen as one possible solution. But whats the best way to achieve this?
