Developing Universal Design Community Garden

Developing and establishing Dundalk Community Garden, based on a Universal Design would be all inclusive, accessible as well as supporting a wide range of needs. It would be a place where all ages and backgrounds could find respite and experience nature, supporting sensory, therapeutic and mental health. It's aim is to engage all levels of ability and backgrounds, children with additional needs, families,young people,single individuals, general population, dementia sufferers, it would support those who feel lonely and isolated no matter the age or gender in gardening, horticultural therapy or just enjoying the change of seasons or to learn something new or inspire connection to nature. Help bridging the gap in town center activities and bringing the community together.

Use it or lose it, as they say. The language community cannot exist in isolation and it would much benefit from more integration with the arts community.

An idea from the Monaghan Idea Generation Workshop on the theme of Arts; A living arts trail, where artists created work or performed at well-spaced sites in one of the forests or open spaces of the county, would also be great to see. Visitors could move around at safe distance from others and watch/interact with the artists.

Arts on Wheels in Monaghan

An idea from the Monaghan Idea Generation Workshop on the theme of Arts; Rural areas are currently badly served by the arts. I’d love to see an arts-on-wheels service that would deliver arts directly to homes in the rural areas of the county. This could be done in people’s gardens by a range of visual and performance artists, musicians, poets, writers, storytellers and the like. Funding might be feasible by people paying for art creation or performances for their relatives as a treat or to celebrate an occasion.

Sadly, there have been a lot of drownings and water accidents happening in Monaghan and along the border region, and beyond, recently with the good weather which is really sad. There’s jetties popping up throughout the county but not so much in safety measures it seems Could we bring people together in communities to design think water safety? The aim of this Design Thinking workshop is to facilitate interested participants from the local area of Cooley Peninsula who are passionate about improving the Greenway experience for their local community and visitors alike. This group will be facilitated in generating ideas and solutions in tackling this challenge and working towards the goal of enriching the experience for all.

The purpose of this Design Thinking workshop is to bring like minded people together who are passionate about creating a better community experience for families who would like to see more choices of low cost activities for children of all ages in North County Louth. This group will come together and generate ideas and solutions on how to achieve this goal.

Wells for Community Connection

To develop exsisting and new places /opportunities for social connection in meaningful ways. Traditionally communities where more dependent on each other and more curious to connect (less distractions) The local community well was a meeting spot for clean water. Meeting at the well and other meeting spots created strong connections. As did the mode of transport ie walking and cycling created opportunities to stop and acknowledge each other. Recreating this type of transport initiative in rural Ireland like electric bikes initatives would help the actions to reduce climate change / and involve tech solutions re the security and charging points as secondary aims. The primary simple aims are social engagement in health promoting initiatives through meeting places as a result of meaningful regular activity.
