Hello! I am Marieke, a designer at icecream architecture - the team who are leading the Innovating Communities project. My background is in Interior and Environmental Design, where I have used Design Thinking and community engagement strategies to achieve holistic outcomes that offer solutions to topical challenges within society.

I like to develop a project conceptually before refining ideas into something tangible to encourage creativity and experimentation. My previous projects have included proposals for a cultural hub that celebrates cultural diversity, a sleep clinic designed to tackle sleep deprivation and designs for sustainable development.

Being a trainer in Innovating Communities brings together my passion for using Design Thinking with facilitating the resources for trainees to be the drivers of change. I am excited to go on the journey with the Teams and see the diversity of all project developments.
