Positive mental health through life-enhancing activities
Havin' a Laugh's mission is to assist with the promotion of positive mental health through life-enhancing activities, connecting to people and Havin’ a Laugh. They believe that life-enhancing activities will be acknowledged as a legitimate and essential part of mental health recovery in the near future and that those who are ‘up for it and at it’ have a platform from which they can support those who do not yet have that drive. Their values include teamwork, respect, fun, creativity, pro-activity and being an inspiration to others

While this idea is great, it's 'treating' rather than 'curing'.
'One' of the root causes of Mental issues is
our limited living options; 'segmented cells' you may live in this box or that one.
UK & EU planners have found a system of a clusters of boxes with a few rules:
1. People must do stuff together in the big box twice a week.
2. be kind to each other 3. do the odd favour 4. agree to sharing the lawnmower etc.
turns out people are much happier.
(no, they have their own complete home.)
they've more disposable income, there's less waste, isolation etc.

We're piloting a new program called 'Waitlist Buddies' linking people on mental health services waiting lists (and between appointments) to activities in their area with the option of bringing a friend along with them. We received Seed Funding from Social Entrepreneurs Ireland in Nov 2020 to start the development of this new service through our website and are looking for guidance on additional funding and mentorship to progress this as a social enterprise that will run concurrently with the charitable service.
