Regeneration and Employment

Develop an apprenticeship program in construction that allows derelict buildings in the village to be used for on site practical learning allowing the application of building and craft skills. Engage the older generations that have the experience and other generations who want to learn creating employment across generations and encouraging people back into the community.

Yes indeed and plasterers, plumbers, electricians are some additional ones.

Rosa, great idea. Shoe menders, thatchers, stonemasons, are some which spring to mind.

Yes indeed Rosa it covers a wide range of skills when you look at construction but I hope we retain those skills in Ireland. I see some dispatches that the UK are looking to recruit from here.

I love this idea of engaging the older generation in education of skills. With the current surge in online education and engagement, getting a diverse cohort of learners is more possible than ever. We will need people to engage the experienced skilled people to help get their knowledge into the market in various streams.
